Reading Tolstoy is never easy. Although he had an amazing imagnation and talent, I don't find his work that accessible. But I did have this book on my bucketlist for years and years and finally (FINALLY!) managed to finish it.
I think what I like most is that he brilliantly captures peoples' minds and how swiftly things can change. For my taste there was a bit too much intrigue and drama with every single characters, but I don't think it diminishes the quality of the book.
I have to say though, if this wasn't considered one of the best novels ever to be written and a classic must read, I don't know if I would have put that much effort into this book. This is no book you can read in one afternoon or just casually read whenever you have a few minutes. Every page of this book requires quite a lot of attention, so you really have to work for this one.

So disappointing! You always here that these classics are great love stories but the ending was horrible. I could not be sympathetic to Anna at all. The writing was good but the story just blah...
