Kuni hails from Balcovia, where the Wynchesters' adoptive father was born, and finds herself in England gathering reconnaissance for a future royal visit. Kuni wants to prove that she has the skills to become the first Royal Guardswoman, which means she has no time for distractions like handsome acrobat-turned-noble Graham Wynchester.
As the family spymaster, Graham prides himself on knowing the goings-on of London but also harbors the whimsical dream of saving a Princess. Graham is instantly smitten with Kuni and her competency, but is his interest more about Kuni's royal connection?
Kuni and Graham's story is sweet and earnest, and was such easy to read. It's also a story with obvious stakes and a whole heck of a lot of pining (but in a fun way). While there is some heat at the very end, I wouldn't classify this book as an overly spicy read. If you're looking for something to tide you over in the wake of Bridgerton, please give Erica Ridley and the Wynchesters a try!
