Grisham does such a brilliant job of finding a character's voice that it is very easy to get pulled into the story and start caring about what happens in their life. This is true again in The Associate. I liked Kyle a lot, especially when he got industrious with dodging his tails and playing counterspy. Where this book fell short was the ending. It was very anticlimactic and left you feeling disappointed that the whole episode might well have never happened. I like the fact that Kyle is working with his dad, but other than that the ending was a big flop. This doesn't ruin the book for me, but it does leave a sour taste in my mouth.

I think he forgot how he was going to end it, so he just stopped writing.

This ended up being a typical Grisham. It made it on my to-read list when I read how it was based on a true story. It took me so long to read it that I can't remember where I read that.

Fantastic premise. The first half is excellent. But loses some steam towards the end.

Read most of this book very quickly and found it quite enjoyable but left about 25% to finish off today. What a disappointing ending! So much potential…..
