I finally understood the hype behind the Thone of Glass series after reading this book. This book expanded more on its world-building and also introduced more character POVs to read from, all with their own distinctive personalities and backstories. Aelin had a complete shift in character, the ultimate turning point in her life where she shed down her old identity and accepted where her path truly lies to become a queen. Instead of relapsing back into hiding behind her trauma (like the prior books), Aelin finally faced her grief, shame, and cowardice, and moved through it. A fully fleshed training arc was seen, even for characters on opposite ends of the world. At first I wasn't interested in Manon's POV but she easily started becoming one my favorites. The pace of Aelin and Rowan's relationship was wonderfully paced, I can truly see them being genuinely good friends and trusted comrades, romantic tension aside. This is especially seen at the apex of the final battle in the book, particularly when Rowan says, “I claim you too, Aelin Galathynius.” That part lives rent free in my mind. While I enjoyed this book, it was quite slow in the first half of the book.

This book felt like more foundations were being laid to set up the rest of the series, with lots of new characters and jumping back and forth between different places. Despite the story growing in complexity, it felt slow for me overall. I didn't immediately connect with some of the new characters and struggled to get invested in their stories.

This was everything — heartbreak, healing, and the raw power of becoming who you’re meant to be.
📖 In this fourth installment of Throne of Glass, Celaena’s journey shifts. We see her broken, grieving, and fighting her inner demons — but also slowly rising into her true identity. The introduction of Rowan (my heart!!), the training sequences, and the emotional weight of her past finally unraveling made this book feel epic.
✨ What I loved:
• Celaena’s growth from self-destruction to strength.
• Rowan. Enough said.
• The world expansion with witches, wyverns, and magic systems coming alive.
• A perfect balance of action and emotion — it made me cry and cheer.
This book turned the series from good to absolutely legendary for me. I could feel the shift — like SJM cranked the volume up on everything.
💭 Final thought: Heir of Fire is not just a fantasy novel; it’s a story about grief, resilience, and claiming your power.
