After the Earth has been decimated the only people who remain are the people who went under ground. The miners of Pocatello and the Cascabel, migrant workers who lived in caves. The Cascabel are treated as second class citizens. When Gabi and Leandro are caught stealing he is sent to the wasteland. 
Interesting ideas on technology and what a society should look like in practice.
