Not my favourite Emily Henry book, but maybe my experience of this book is impacted by the reading slump I’ve been in lately.
It’s interesting idea, however side characters do feel very 2D.

Ending was cute.

I'll probably come back and change this to a 5 at some point because Emily Henry could punch me in the face and I would give her praise for it, but for now I am going with 4.

I think this was a really interesting departure from the norm, but honestly all I could think of was how similar in style it was to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Again, really enjoyed it, but it didn't give me full Emily Henry experience, you know?

I did love the family aspect of this book and the mystery of the Ives clan! But I think Alice and Hayden could have benefited from -gasp- *more* conflict because that romance felt as rushed as that ending and epilogue.

Classic EmHen Emotional Damage™️

I honestly only think I didn’t love this more because I listened to the audio. Hear me out; I’m an e-book girl, and usually I can only listen to an audiobook if I’ve already read it before. However, I was on holiday and wanted some EmHen in my life.

Now, I still love this book (have ordered the hardback for my shelf) and will reread it. The dual stories unfolding on these pages were so beautiful. Margaret’s story made me cry multiple times. The amount of loss that woman experienced in her life was heartbreaking. I honestly would have sobbed the whole way through if Alice and Hayden’s own love story wasn’t blooming at the same time.
