Sadly this one was kind of a miss for me. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t love it either. The story was a bit boring in the middle and didn’t pick up until the very end. I was happily surprised with a nice twist, but wasn’t enough to gain more than 3 stars this time.

was it in some ways just an emily henry version of the seven husbands of evelyn hugo? yeah, for sure. did i still read and enjoy it? yeah

This plot is so similar to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo or whatever that one was. I liked the history and life of the old lady they are writing the biography of more than I ever liked Evelyn, but I think I'm sort of over this plot device of the duel stories revealed from two directions. I was happy that the added romance plot was not too distracting.

Let me start by saying: I didn’t find this boring like everyone else. But it wasn’t good either. The Emily Henry chemistry between the characters wasn’t there, the connection felt mainly physical. The intertwined genres weren’t smoothly executed.
