Henry, my love, my little vampire man who I need to protect.

Genuinely loved this! Though it seemed like there wasn’t really any real plot, because stories that couldn’t formed a whole series of books were swept over, I’m glad they were, because we got to see Henry through his life, and it wouldn’t have made sense to dwell on things that were, to him, small fractions of time in his long existence.

Was a fun book, narration was excellent. Towards the end of the book the format got a little tired.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

Not really a necessary thing to read, because this book can be read as a standalone, but I do wish I'd read Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter first! This was fun as an audiobook, albeit a bit tedious in certain bits and the Big Bad was both annoying and perplexing in motive.

It was highly enjoyable as usual. The amount of thought to make some of history's more interesting stories be vampire-related is astounding. I rated it a bit lower just because I thought it was a little too all over the place. Yes this was Henry's backstory and life, but some major plot points were glazed over and never fully formed while others were given way too much time.

When I saw this at the library I had to have it. It had been several years since I read ALVH, which I enjoyed thoroughly, and had no idea there was a sequel. Having obtained a B.A. in history this was right up my alley in literature. I love Grahame-Smith's creative take on history and enjoyed Sturges' adventures through the centuries. Most of the books I read are mindless reads that I get through in hours but this one took me a few days because I actually wanted to take in each word on the page. I knew that Abe wasn't dead - I just didn't know when he was coming back. I half expected Jack the Ripper to be Abe but it didn't seem right, I only thought so because of the description of a tall man. The one thing I didn't expect and maybe that makes me the odd man out here is Virginia Dare to be the person Henry was chasing.

Wow wow and wow. Rare that a second book in a series is better than the first but this one takes the cake.

Might have enjoyed more in physical form. As an audiobook, the switches between first and third person seemed abrupt.

The time jumps were also, at times, disorganized and too quick. Would have liked more out of a few sections.

I'm not sure how everyone else felt about this, but I personally thought this was an incredible read. It's a great continuation to the story and was really hard to put down. Loved every minute of this and highly recommend it to anyone that has read the first book or is looking for a good 2 book story that is a great read.
