I don't usually like reading fairy-tale retellings. Also, I never liked the book Peter Pan to begin with. And the fact that set in modern times was what really ruined it for me. That made it weirder. The only reason I chose to read this book in the first place is because I haven't read any retellings of Peter Pan before, so it seemed like it had potential. But this book disappointed me.

The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because it had a good premise. However that’s where the “good” of this story ends. Poorly executed, poorly written, unrealistic dialogue, and it ends on a cliffhanger with no resolution. I don’t know what it is these days with authors who take what should be a 500 pg book and just chop it in half to make two 250 pg books…I hate it when I feel like I have to read the second book in a series to get closure for the first, but this goes beyond that, there is not a single part of the story wrapped up at the end of this first book. It feels like a money grab, you don’t get a whole story by buying one book, you now have to buy 2 in order to get 1 story. Hate it!!!

It’s a really well put together story, really well written but my lower rating is personal preference. The main character often came off as playing a victim, the themes were often dark and the only thing that kept me reading were the jokes, love story, and the hope of a happy ending. Plus I have a hard time with real world fantasy. It is a good book and I recommend to anyone who can handle a darker tale.

Loved it! I have to say, I haven't read a book that made me laugh this much in a while! I'm a Peter Pan fan already, and watching a Pan exiled from Neverland and increasingly frustrated at how he is started to grow up was very amusing. The author had a knack for witty internal dialogue and funny awkward situations.
The plot was pretty good, with a few nice twists and turns. I was really happy at the resolution at the end, because I knew this is the first of two books, so I was afraid things would be left hanging. I thought the author did a great job of having a satisfying conclusion and yet still having tantalizing clues for how the story will continue in the next book.
All in all, I was glad I bought it. It was a fun read, and I look forward to reading the next book!
