This was oddly as cute as it was brutal in its approach to a love story between a kindergarten teacher and an ex 1%-er motorcycle club VP who’s managed to kill his way into a peaceful life for his family in a small town. The premise is that Trent, oldest brother of 3, owns a cocktail bar that kindergarten teacher, Eden, is desperate to moonlight at to make extra money to save her father’s school after her sister swindled them. Trent reluctantly hires Eden not knowing that she’s also his son’s new teacher and sparks fly between the two. But the two must decide for themselves if opposites do attract especially when shadows of both Trent and Eden’s pasts threaten to tear them apart.

Overall, I really liked this. It was a little clichéd at times with emphasizing the dichotomy between how “good” Eden was with her kindergarten and Sunday school teaching and how “bad” Trent was with his killer past, uncontrolled temper and unresolved trauma. Also, as adorable as little Gage was, sometimes his dialogue was unrealistic. Despite these two slight niggles, I thought this wasn’t bad. Indeed I really liked and enjoyed all the characters in the book and thought the plot twist was a nice way to tie everything together even though it was a little Pat. I enjoyed Trent’s brothers and can’t wait for their books, and certainly wouldn’t say no to more books in this series featuring Eden’s best friend or Eden’s father. This is my first book by this author and I’m inspired to go check out her backlist! I would recommend this book to people who like MC romance and a beauty and the beast (in an emotional sense- not physical) trope.
