I am not a contemporary book reader but this book was recommended and I swallowed it up in one night. This is definitely what I needed after reading series books.

My three main grievances can be summarized as such...
1. This book was WAY longer than it needed to be because the author's writing style was so repetitive! Here is an example of what I mean.
"This was wrong. This was all wrong. I was here to do the right thing. Except it was all wrong. I
was doing it wrong."
Or this one
"God, he was going to hate this. It had to be said. And he'd hate it. He'd hate me for it."
2. Indya, the FMC, needed to stand the f*ck up
"'Would you kiss me again?' ... 'Please?' My heart was in my throat as I waited and hoped. 'Please, West.' Don't go. Kiss me."
This was already super cringe, but it was made worse by the fact that after 275 pages, I'm still not entirely convinced West, the MMC, even likes her that much. WHERE IS THE CHEMISTRY?!?!
"I loved it when he called me baby. Like I was more than just the woman screwing him in his old pickup."
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but ladies, just because a man calls you baby does not automatically mean he is in love with you.
