This book is inconsistent. Parts (like the prologue, from the perspective of the dead girl’s dog) made me tear up. Other parts - such a brief description of the flow of time - were brilliant. Some parts, such as Liz’s first few months on Elsewhere, were just plain boring.
Still, I gave it to my high schooler to read.

The concept is good and the story is ok but it could have been a lot better. Plus it just wasn't consistent as far as your mental state as you age backwards.
Liked this more than I anticipated, especially the second half when I felt the writing got better. Enjoyed watching the evolution of the main character in such a creative setting.
This was a really cute, different book. I enjoyed pretty much all of the characters, who were well developed. The pacing was spot-on with wonderful world-building. Though on the surface this might seem like a campy, fun book it definitely explored some deeper ideas of death, grief, loss, love, and friendship. I absolutely recommend it. This is my third book of Zevin's: I really enjoy her writing and her character profiles; she always has a unique perspective. #bookworm #bookstagram #bookish #elsewhere

One of the most unique books I’ve ever read. A quick read, but funny, smart, and heartwarming. A feel good book you didn’t know you needed.
I listened to the audiobook, and I found the narrator's voice a bit annoying, so that's probably affecting my rating. But still, I didn't like very much until part 3, which was the shortest part! I had no patience for Liz.
I'm bummed but not surprised that this re-read didn't live up to how much I remember loving this book back when I was in middle/high school. If I were to rate this now as if it were my first time reading it, I would probably rate it a 1 or a generous 2, but out of respect for younger Chelsea I'm gonna leave this one un-rated and just let that be that lol

I, personally, loved this book. Its about how a girl dies and basically her life after she dies.
This is great book to get u an understanding of after life and a new perspecive of life now. though in this book u might think u would want to go there there r a lot of things in life u cant do there and u cant really fix nything there. there probably could be a second book maybe there is but if there is i would like to find it.
