it’s Matilda, my first ever favourite character

We listened to it in the car and I was cracking up with the kids! I never read it before so I compared it to the 90s movie. It is super similar a lot of the lines matched up which made me so happy!

I still love this book. I always felt a sort of affinity for Matilda, with her book reading and feeling so different and whatnot; but it's been so long- I felt the need to revisit it. And the audiobook, narrated by Kate Winslet, is outstanding. There's still this weird, comic violence that permeates Roald Dahl that I never thought twice of as a child but feel weird about when reading it as an adult. It's not necessarily bad, just... weird. Off-putting, maybe? Still good, but... that undercurrent is certainly more palpable now.
