Black the graphic novel was really good I really enjoyed the concept and ideas of the story. I read this during blackathon for black history month. It told some many truths that are important of today when it comes to the black community. The idea that black people have superpowers and "the man" is trying to bring us down is so real and relevant of today.
In a strong way black people do have superpowers because for hundreds of years we were told we werent good enough, we are ugly, we wont be worth anything but to be slaves. Black people have (and had) the power to re think the brainwashing and fight back. The black community has come a long way but we still have a lot of work to do. From more black doctors, teachers, lawyers and even a president of the USA can make a world a difference. Black people have come together and fought for our own such as schools and bussiness and funding for different programs for children and families of need.
This graphic novel also talks about the prison system and how just for being black you can serve. Life sentence. So many innocent black people get locked up and killed by police just for having dark skin and fitting a so called description.
This graphic novel was bomb as fuck! Finally a story that shines the light on the positive of being black in America. Even though its just a story Black book one told so many truths and yes I believe I do have superpowers. Powers that were once taking from white supremacy but now gained back because Im no longer brained washed. I woke up and I stayed woke. I love this and will re read it again. I will also be reading the author's other graphic novel which is a spin off to this called Black AF.
