No I need to know what happens next. I can’t wait to read implode!!!
Claire is a strong badass female lead. It shows her relationship and takes you on a journey. I love her so much and she deserves so much better.
Nic is the brother of Claire’s friends fiancé. He is rich and hot

"Simply put, she intrigues me. How could she not? I can't stop thinking about her dream board-or whatever it is called-with the little perfectly cut out magazine pictures."
This is my first book by this author and it was definitely a good first impression as a new reader of hers. There are a few triggers that should be checked before reading (if you have any).
Inflame follows Claire and Nic's story. As they plan the bachelor/bachelorette together, we get to see their story unfold. Claire has a lot going on in her life, especially with her current boyfriend who is far from being a great man. This book is definitely a SLOW BURN but the build up of their story was so worth it.
As much as I am currently mad with Nic at the moment, I am excited to see what book 2 will entail for Claire and Nic.
Plot: 4/5

3.5 stars. Cute banter. Cliff hanger ending so I moved on the the 2nd book (did not like it, nearly DNF)
This book is so well written! The amount of time that was put into character development and world building is phenomenal. From the beginning of the book you are hooked into feeling what Claire and Nic are feeling you feel like you know them. In turn this book makes you emotional, you can cry laugh and be angry with them. I can identify with Claire and her want and struggle for stability and love and also with Nic thinking he’s not enough or he’s too damaged. I need more of them. Implode better come soon or I’m going to implode
⚠️TW: emotional and physical abuse⚠️
i’m not going to lie, the first half of this book was difficult for me to read.. not because it was badly written or anything like that, but because of the abuse ethan showed to claire. as someone who has been in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship, reading about these interactions was pretty hard for me. on one hand, it brought me back to that time in my life, and on the other hand it really opened my eyes seeing it from an outside perspective. how someone who is being treated so badly can stand being with that person for so long is mind boggling, but at one point in my life, i understood.
BUT, the whole book is not purely about ethan and claire. luckily she comes to her senses and breaks up with ethan. then, she finds herself with nic hoffman. another toxic (but not abusive), yet extremely irresistible guy. who also happens to be her best friends soon to be brother-in-law.
despite the first half of this book being difficult for me to digest, i literally GOBBLED this book up. holy cow. even without reading the entice series (which takes place before the toxic desire series) it was pretty easy to fit myself into their world without any confusion. i felt so connected with this book and claire and i think that’s why i enjoyed it so much. it was so nice to see her find her self worth throughout this story.
read if you like:
- grumpy x sunshine
- forced proximity
- SPICE

Victoria Dawson does it again with Claire’s story! I loved Claire’s personality in the Entice series, so to see it come alive even more!! Nic and Claire’s dynamic is something to be jealous of! Between forbidden to brothers fiancés best friend the angst between the two is amazing! I can’t wait for the second book to come out to continue to follow Nic and Claire!

Inflame is the story of Claire and Nic, who we met in the Entice series, although this can be read standalone. It definitely is more meaningful with Angie and Graham's story read first. Claire is a real character, full of life and sunshine but struggling to find where she fits in, especially now that her best friend is all loved up. Nic is facing his own demons, having accepted that happily ever afters are just not for him. He isn't the white knight, he's the villain and he does his best to convince Claire of this.
I loved the accurate portrayal of Claire's relationship with a narcissist, how Ethan charmed his way into her life and then slowly beat her down emotionally. It was so rewarding when Nic stepped in to build her back, although sometimes his mentions were a bit questionable.
Another great addition from Victoria Dawson and can't wait to read the next instalment. I give it a solid 4 stars, because I did find the writing long-winded and unnecessary in places, so I kept losing attention. Otherwise, excellent.
