Doyle's Sherlock Holmes was a captivating read. Each case was independent from another, with enough introductory knowledge to link them. Watson is a creative and likeable character, contrasting Holmes' precise, and at times, irritating behaviours.

Holmes and Watson are a delightful pair. Holmes, I think, gets a bad rep as a curmudgeon sometimes--he's actually a very caring character, and I love the way the two work together, as well as their sweet and profound friendship. There's a sameness to some of the stories, and of course some are better than others, but they're all enjoyable and engaging.

It's a collection of 12 short stories, cases if you may. Each one as puzzling as the previous one and try as I might I'm just like Dr. Watson, clueless and oblivious to all the things happening around me until Sherlock explains them in plain language.
