All the ends are very rushed, Conan Doyle needed to strike a balance between the length of a novel and a short story. On balance, I think the latter format is better, but I do wish Holmes and Watson got more time to investigate, and had less to listen to.

However, these minor quibbles do not stop this collection from being otherwise brilliant.

Some highlights:
- A Scandal in Bohemia
- The Man with the Twisted Lip (because I figured it out)
- The Blue Carbuncle
- The Speckled Band (genuinely very tense!)
- The Beryl Coronet
- The Copper Beeches

(You can probably tell that I prefer the ones where Holmes and Watson go off and solve something together and the latter isn't left behind.)
