The writing is very curious, I’m not sure if it’s because it’s a translated work or if that’s just the writer’s style. It was an interesting book from a perspective I hadn’t read before. It’s definitely a more experimental book than what I normally read, but I didn’t understand the characters motivations or actions.

Hidas, vähäeleinen ja melankolinen tunnelma jatkuu koko kirjan läpi. Kirja on kaunis ja yksinkertainen.

Honestly, I chose this book because the cover piqued my interest, lol! It looks so dreamy, I swear. This book has something very compelling and eerie that draws me in, as well as something that makes me feel as if I am witnessing something develop, making it a novel that I simply fall into. However, my expectations were quickly dashed because the book was neither what I had hoped for, nor was it dreamy. God. This book evokes a sense of winter sadness. I spent days reading this book, expecting for something to happen, but nothing ever occurred. It just— hmm... ok.

This was such a bittersweet and cozy little novella that I was able to fly through in one sitting. I love stories that are simultaneously about everything and nothing all at once. I’m very eager to read more from Dusapin.

“How do you know when a story is done?”
Kerrand came closer to the desk.
“My character reaches a point when I know he has a life of his own. I can let him go.”

how such a small book can be so frustrating and good at the same time??? this short story is for the ones who struggle with what people think/expect from them.
