I just love this series so much! It was great having a little more taste of Valek and Yelena's adventures. As always, Maria doens't disappoint.
You can see by her writting that the Study short stories are not about making money off of readers, you can see that she misses the characters and wants to please the fans and I love her for it.

CAN VALEK PLEASE STOP SAYING "LOVE" AT THE END OF EVERYTHING HE SAYS TO YELENA!!!

Seriously, makes me want to hurl.

He's all dashing and calm and cultivated and gorgeously remote in Poison Study and then as soon as he [SPOILER ALERT] hooks up with Yelena it's all gushy and gross. Can't these hunky men still be hunky after they've become boyfriends?!

Other than that...these short stories are fine, just the characters all seem a bit too predictable. In order of awesomeness and ability to solve any problem: Commander, Valek, Yelena, Ari/Janco....every single time! Can't they all just be flummoxed for once and have Ari or Janco solve it all??

A group of thugs capture Leif. They hold him hostage in order to make Yelena help them find a blue diamond. This diamond is able to take away all magic so no magicians will be able to access the power source. Yelena must help to stop one group from getting the diamond while Valek helps to rescue Leif.
