A serial killer writes out his gruesome murders into his own horror novel. Lots of brutal torture and sadistic killings.

WARNING: SPOILERS!!!...I just finished reading this...wow!!!! Matt Shaw is a very twisted author. The book was a wonderful read...but for me, it was very sad and horrific in the end. I was left in awe...I really thought it would be a happier ending...but Matt Shaw doesn't ease up!!!! I have a family too...just so sad for Hayley. I'd recommend this for true horror fans. I enjoy Matt Shaw...but I think I'll take a break from his work. It's quite disturbing.

It's been a few months since reading this book and it still disturbs me!!!!

Warning: it's not for the faint-hearted. This book is a must-read for horror enthusiasts looking for a story that challenges and unnerves. Shaw's writing is sharp and unflinching, making Don't Read a compelling yet unsettling experience. The narrative is cleverly constructed, drawing the reader into a dark, twisted world where the line between fiction and reality blurs. Shaw masterfully blends psychological horror with visceral, often gruesome imagery, creating an atmosphere of dread and suspense.

I almost dnf'd this one. I finished it by skimming the rest. I...this was god-awful. It was everything you'd want in a splatterpunk\extreme horror book. And it was too much for me. I found my limit. And I just don't do bad endings. Fitting, but damn. Also, not my favourite when it's the men abducting women. He was CERTAINLY creative but I prefer a bit of revenge, a bit of insane justice. But that's just me

Ok. I gave a 1 star rating. Because honestly? This was boring. I was intrigued at the beginning, don't get me wrong - I'm a sucker for a good horror. Having heard how vile Matt Shaw's "black cover" books were I though why not, I'll give it a go. I've read some stuff in my time, not all good, not all great, but this was just a mish mash of psycho porn slash thriller which just didn't cut the mustard. It's not even all that original, just a bunch of the nastiest things the author could come up with to do with torture, rape and sexual violence rammed together and called a novella. The only thing that really bothers me about this is that's it's a available on kindle unlimited so kids can read it, which they shouldn't by the way. Complete waste of time.

Truelly horrific. Body horror, the works on murder and a bit of mayhem. Just do what it says and "don't read."

An extreme horror story about a guy who travels about in his truck abducting, torturing, and killing young women while writing a book with a totally accurate blow by blow account of his actions. The book is written in biro with the words “Don’t Read” on the cover. That is probably good advice if you are squeamish or aren’t into extreme horror. Don’t go there. Having said that, the writing is brilliant and there is purpose to the story and its unexpected ending.
