“Secrets have power. And that power diminishes when they are shared, so they are best kept and kept well. Sharing secrets, real secrets, important ones, with even one other person, will change them. Writing them down is worse, because who can tell how many eyes might see them inscribed on paper, no matter how careful you might be with it. So it's really best to keep your secrets when you have them, for their own good, as well as yours.”

Trigger Warnings: Blood, Character death, Parental abuse

Review:
This is a beautiful story filled to the brim with magic and romance. This story, told over multiple timelines, might be a little difficult to follow but it ties together so well. The magical realism, the visual imagery, the intrigue and the pace of the book were just some things that really appealed to me. I feel like an extra element of gore would've given this book so much more character. To be honest, I don't have much to say that hasn't been said already. This was an amazing read :)

Quite enjoyable. I especially liked the descriptions about the tricks and charms they performed, the circus, the clothes, etc. I think the ambience of the book in general was cleverly done and it was able to make me dive into the story. I never read a story with this setting (a circus) or watched many related movies, so my knowledge about how stereotypical this is, might be completely inaccurate. There were some cheesy phrases and scenes between Marco and Celia that were not my thing, but individually I liked them, as well as the other characters, except the "parental" figures.
They trick these poor kids just for a stupid challenge about their pride and they barely give them information for so long... On top of that, they basically torture them and manipulate them emotionally and physically, but they don't face any consequence. I don't know if the author intended here to deliver some sort of message, but that part was slightly disappointing.

I love descriptions and I don't certainly find boring slow books, in fact, I enjoy them a lot from time to time. So I guess that in this sense, this book was perfect.

The change between years and dates was a bit confusing at times but overall I think it's a really good story. I didn't expect much, just to have a lighter reading, enjoy a bit the story without too much surprises or triggers and be comforted. So it was able to fulfill my goal, therefore I don't have anything else to say apart from the fact that I loved the side characters, but especially Tsukiko made me fall in love with her in just seconds. AND WE NEEDED MORE OF HER STORY. I WANT MORE SAPPHIC STORIES PLEASE *crying noises*
