If I could rate this book higher I would. I love KM. I own all of her books. I’ve been following her since she first released Stalking Jack the Ripper. (if you haven’t read it go do it!) I was super excited when Kingdom of the wicked came out and I adored the books. And now she’s done it again as an adult novel. I was thrilled.

MMC:
Keri Maniscalco is incredibly talented when it comes to world building and plot. Her characters are always fascinating and the princes in Kow are some of my favorites. The way they lean into and are so tied with the world itself is incredibly written. They were side characters and yet I wanted more of them and this book delivered. Seeing Envy’s thought processes and motivations be expanded upon so thoroughly was absolutely wonderful. Throughout kow we got all these snippets of him and seeing it fulfilled and put under a microscope was exactly what I needed. I was practically giddy to be back in the world of Kow and to know all his secrets finally. We knew from that series that all the princes had individual curses as well as the one that held them all and seeing Envy’s was everything I wanted from him.

FMC:
Km writes amazing female main characters and Camilla was another. She was at times predictable. It’s a problem I had with KM’s other 2 FMC’s as well and I figured out
she was a fae princess
pretty early on. But her headstrong I know exactly what I want and I will get it attitude made me love her. So often in romantasy we see these fmc that seem that way at first and then end up becoming so connected to the relationship that they lose their spark of individuality(looking at you feyre) Camilla didn’t do that even as she fell in love with Envy. She remained her own person with her own desires and motivations.

World building(only complaint):
While I don’t think it’s necessary to read Kow and this can be read as a stand alone where you will get what you need to understand the world as it pertains to this story; I do feel like a lot of the world building is lost if you haven’t read them. She really develops the world there with all the different courts and the histories that are so crucial to that series and she knew coming into the prince of sins series that most people were coming over from Kow. I think she shoved off a little of that extra work she usually puts into her books to really build the world and relied a bit too much at times on the idea that people would have previous understanding of where they were.

Spice
Oh lord ms maniscalco knows how to write smut. It was hot. And I thought the buildup to them finally having sex really paid off. Especially with how it played into Envy’s character development and accepting the chance to be hurt again. It wasn’t just sex for the sake of sex. It added to the story. It wasn’t randomly thrown in there like it’s so easy to do with romance novels as a whole. I loved the dual perspectives and how sometimes we would see and experience it through her enjoyment and at others we got to see the way that envy takes so much pleasure from pleasing her. I don’t think it took away from the story. I don’t think it was overly done. It was very well written and tied into the story in a significant way.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes romantasy. Especially if you’ve read Kingdom of the Wicked.

Loved this,  fast paced drama. For people who enjoyed The cruel Prince series or ACOTAR this is a likely win of a read, characters who are very interesting and mysterious,  a race against time, and a dark romance.
The Story is very spicy so be aware of that,  however wether that is your thing to read or not the adventure is very page turning .
I would have liked to hear more descriptions of the worlds throughout , it was way more about the people but the atmosphere was captured well and I definitely want to read the follow up later in the year.
It was a no hesitation 5!

Another lovely contribution to the Seven Circles universe, Kerri Maniscalco has expanded on Envy’s story, which I was personally dying to learn more about after finishing the Kingdom of the Wicked series. This tale is full of games, deception, and yes, lots of heated romance. While I think there were a number of plot holes, the characters were so compelling that it didn’t matter much to me. Highly suggest reading, especially if you miss the Kingdom of the Wicked universe, as there are many callbacks!

I love Kerri Mansculo. I already knew her romance writing was to die for, and this book confirmed that her plot exploration is just as good as her other books. A great twist at the end too. However there was a jump in spice from KOTW to Throne of the fallen. I liked it where it was, and it was too much. There was only one true sex scene but it was long and very graphic. There was also lots of graphic sex vocabulary scattered throughout the book that I felt was unnecessary. The plot was strong enough to stand in its own.

This is all on me. I was not aware that this book was Kerri Maniscalco's adult debut and featured sexual scenes. I am deeply uncomfortable with sex scenes and the build-up of sex in this book was so long, unnecessary, and unsatisfying. The thirst that Envy and Camilla have for each other knows no bounds.
Which I suppose makes sense since he's the living embodiment of one of the wicked sins and Camilla is an Unseelie fae, who thrives off of wickedness and carnal pleasure. Great, they suit each other. Have at it. Only no, please don't have at it - my poor eyes!
I was confused as to whether they were falling in love with each other or just wanted into each other's pants until midway through the book. At the end, it's clarified that it's love and I do think it's sweet how they are with each other - or just how Envy is with Camilla. I would've appreciated if that love was reciprocated better on Camilla's end (if it was shown better by her).

Despite the lackluster "love" story, I really loved the relationship between the seven Sins. The brothers were hilarious! I would read a book just featuring their dynamics alone, and that's probably why I'll be reading the Kingdom of the Wicked series next. I gave this book a three because I actually really enjoyed the world that Kerri Maniscalco had set up - with humans in Waverly Green, the Underworld, Vampires in Malice Isle, Unseelie and Seelie Fae Courts, House of Vengeance, Witches, and more. I especially appreciated how the author forced Envy and Camilla to explore so many of those places. It was pretty cool to see the different creatures, their powers, and limitations.

I hadn't read the author's Kingdom of the Wicked series, either, so I had no idea that this was a spinoff until I'd opened it. For the most part, I would say that you can read it as a standalone. There are only a couple of references to scenes that must've happened in the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy that aren't really explained. They didn't really have so much to do with the plot, though.
