One part Scooby-Doo mystery.
One part Waldameer advertising propaganda.
One part Dark Ride history.
One part notebook doodles masquerading as illustrations.

So happy to have found this small press book by the son of the operators of Waldameer park in Erie, PA at the gift shop there. I love the park. I love the Whacky Shack, and I love that someone was inspired to write a kid's mystery book where multicultural kids chase a sabotaging prankster ghost around a classic dark ride, complete with a "And I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you kids!" ending that culminates at a Dark Ride organization's award ceremony. (!!!) This book isn't for everyone but as a member of a Dark Ride organization who has ridden this ride dozens of times, (and actually bought this book at a recent awards ceremony) it was definitely for me! The writing is decent for a kid's book and the subject matter is great.
