The perfect book for any horse lover, history buff, and/or human with a heart.
Picture book biographies are becoming a fast favorite of mine thanks to books like this. The illustrations, language choice, and focused sequence of events were outstanding.
My four year old liked it but she is a horse lover. Maybe best for 6 and up.

A small, but important, piece of history about wild mustangs and a woman who wouldn't give up fighting for them! The information was great, the illustrations excellent, and the back matter interesting.
This book is a great way to show that anyone can make a change for something they believe in, even children!
Another fantastic biography of a woman few of us know. Velma Bronn Johnson was raised on a ranch, and loved the wild mustangs her dad trained. Imagine her horror when she learned others rounded them up to sell to dog-food processors, and glue factories!
Velma found her voice and her mission, combining her passion for these uniquely-American animals and her commitment to their existence. She used her voice, she enlisted school children. She once brought a wheelbarrow full of letters from her 'pencil brigade' of children writing their first advocacy letter.
One person can find her passion, commit to her cause, advocate from that passion, and make a difference. Annie changed her corner of the world for the better.
