The book is more fun when Richard met Anaesthesia and much much much more fun when he met Lamia.

This book is super Neil Gaimany. If you like Neil you will like this book. Neil Gaiman is also really into fantastical markets, as one features prominently in this book as well as Stardust, and I wouldn't be surprised if they pop up in other books. It kind of reminds me of a Fantasy version of the Hitchhikers Guide, in that in focuses on an ordinary guy thrown into unbelievable fantasy situation who at first is bewildered and then proceeds to make many wry comments about the fantastical nature of events. A quick read it was entertaining and the plot was interesting and moved at a nice pace.

A very well written story if a bit slow. The world building is very well done and I connected with the characters but sometimes wished the story would just get on with it.
