Vulnerable. Heart breaking. Real. It feels like it invites the reader in to what should be a lovely, fun childhood that has been taken away by war, political decisions, and shines a light on how the globe affected an area that was running fine by itself before others stepped in.

The thoughts of a child are simultaneously mature and very, well, childish, growing up through such things. I find myself returning a lot to the young Marji who talks to God.
