I've put off DNFing this for far too long. From the synopsis I thought this would be my exact type of book. Of course, I was wrong. I found both Hugh and Minerva so insufferable I couldn't bear to read this any longer.

The bright cover drew me in and I am glad I picked this one up! I do not read very many historical romances but quickly fell in love with the sisters! I really enjoyed the storyline and some parts actually made me laugh out loud. I am always here for a fake dating trope and this definitely made for an entertaining read. I enjoyed Minerva and Hugh’s story but had a hard time connecting with the historical romance aspect of the book. Overall I am excited for the next book in the series!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Somewhat amusing, but not great

Part of the reason this got only three stars for me was that the interesting premise turned into a very convoluted and long-suffering inducing storyline. Also, the author deviated from historical accuracy with phrases such as "running interface" which is jarring for me as a reader. This was my first introduction to the author's work, and I probably won't read more by her.
As far as recommendations go, I would suggest this only as a read of desperation when there are so many excellent reads available in the genre.

Thoroughly enjoyed the read, though wanted more from the ending (and one nagging loose end - but perhaps that’s left for the sequel)

A bit too long and way too drawn out for the all of the miscommunication. I also didn’t feel like the guy really groveled as much as he should have
