content warning: mild Bdsm, sex, racism, alcohol, drugs, kidnapping, boss/worker romance (aka power imbalance)

I bought this because I saw someone on twitter talking about it and I'm always open to trying new romance novels, especially if they're written by WOC because the publishing industry isn't really great for WOC so I want to help.

Bad for the Boss is an office romance, following Jen and her boss Theo. Jen grew up poor, going through a lot of heavy things that a lot of people wouldn't imagine ever going through, this has left her closed off and very goal orientated. Theo only wants to be successful as well but somehow they end up with an explosive romance.

First volume in the[b:Just for Him: The Complete Series|43574630|Just for Him The Complete Series|Talia Hibbert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1547563569l/43574630._SY75_.jpg|66312841] boxed set trilogy.

This early Hibbert (2017) is a mash-up of office romance, romantic suspense (housebreaking/murder scene opens the story), BWAM romance, and, according to Goodreads reviewers, BDSM sex. Although I appreciated the diversity in character and in setting (Nottingham, rather than the more usual London British romance setting), the combination of the other facts didn't work for me, so I gave up about 25% of the way in.

as i was looking through hibbert’s backlist i came across this god awful cover and saw “no longer in print” in the description. i became intrigued because though i have not liked every single talia hibbert romance, i enjoy almost all of the ones ive read, so i was truly wondering what could be so bad! now looking back, i wish curiousity did not kill me as this is one of the worst books ive ever read. throughout the book i just kept thinking, “what universe is this obvious fanfiction from” for the lack of characterization (and therefore development) and fast pacing and just how bad the plot, storytelling, and dialogue is. anyways i stand by hibbert’s decision to no longer print this book and i’m so glad she’s improved as a writer, TRULY

Not quite my favorite.

This is the first one of Hibbert's books where I didn't really attach to any of the characters. The premise is interesting: a boss finds one of the women working beneath him attractive and develops feelings for her along the way. There's a subplot of a stalker in this story and the culmination of that story line seems just a bit rushed. Aside from that, I'm not the biggest fan of stories where the man aggressively wants to save the female protagonist. The other books I've read from Hibbert defy that with the female characters taking charge of their fates in a much more proactive way.

I wasn't all that attached to Jennifer as a character. Her history was interesting, very painful and I liked that she was good at her job but I never really got a feel for her personality.

Theo just struck me as bossy. I know, I know, he's technically the boss, but it wasn't always attractive.

Anyway, it was an interesting read but I wish I liked the characters more.

No one can exploit her at the office except for the boss.

I picked this up after being interested in the couple from the Fake Boyfriend Fiasco and I really enjoyed it. According to Hibbert’s website, this book is actually unavailable but I found it on my Libby and picked it up. I can see why it was made unavailable as it didn’t feel as in depth as the rest of the authors books. The characters had a bit of insta lust and the chemistry didn’t build as much as it has in her other works.

It was still a a fast, fun, and enjoyable read
