I didn’t enjoy the way it was written. Not that it was particularly bad, but it just wasn’t for me. Felt overly detailed like it was preparing itself for a movie based on it so it had to dot its i’s and cross its t’s.

3.5 rating solely because of the ending! One thing I hate about books is when you’re reading from the 1st person perspective, like from the characters thoughts, and their thoughts don’t end up matching the plot. Super early on I assumed Sarah was the killer and planned this all to get back at him, but after reading all her genuine reactions of concern and fear and unbelief that Adam could do this, I was like “okay not her I guess” but the last 30 pages it’s like just kidding! If that was her plan the whole time wouldn’t her thoughts be about that? I know the book wouldn’t have been the same if we had Sarah’s real thoughts, but this book was so hyped up for me I was expecting something crazy and was a bit disappointed. I did enjoy the writing a lot though and it had me glued to the book so even though I’m complaining it actually wasn’t bad

The Perfect Marriage: A Completely Gripping Psychological Suspense by Jeneva Rose 342 pages 8 hours and 52 minutes narrated by Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt
Genre: Mystery > Crime; Thriller > Mystery Thriller, Psychological Thriller; Suspense, Adult Fiction, Contemporary
Featuring: Murder- Off Camera, Sex detailed but not descriptive, Murder Investigation, Infidelity, Profanity, Lawyers, Police, Stupidity, Inaccuracies
Rating as a movie: R for adult content and themes
Synopsis: Lawyer defends husband accused of murdering his mistress.
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
My thoughts: 42% - This is pretty good so far. Great tempo.
78% - Stupidity but not the annoying kind.
This could have been a 4.5 or even 5 star book but the author cut corners. What Washington D. C., Maryland, and Virginia have in common is they have abolished the death penalty so the plot made no sense. They aren't community property states but assets are fair game so I'll let that go. Facing the death penalty was a big part of the plot so it rubbed me the wrong way as this is Contemporary Realistic Fiction. The title didn't fit the story to me, but I couldn't think of a better title without giving away the farm. Once you get past that it's a good book. The pace is a quick jog, just above mid tempo and there aren't any lulls. I didn't figure it out, so I liked that however I did mentally throw it once I got to the reveal. This one is a must read, for some reason only one of my libraries had it, the smallest one, on digital audio, so I'm going to request the larger libraries get copies so others can enjoy it.
Recommend to others?: Yes! Even with the inaccuracies to the plot it's still a good story. Thrill Seekers will enjoy this one.
