This may have been extremely short, but I still loved it none the less. The little insight we got into what Khalid was thinking when Shazi came was enlightening, and watching the start of their relationship warmed my heart. This only makes me want The Rose and the Dagger even more, which I didn't think was possible.
Highly recommend this series!

I usually really love novellas. They tend to bring a glimpse of a backstory or a fun addition to the actual book. I loved Jalal and Destine's backstory, but this novella just felt a bit... unnecessary? It just didn't really add anything, as it was too short to be much of a story. However, this did make me more excited to read the second book.

In Khalid’s experience, only two things prompted people to such drastic measures.
Love. And hate.
Which was it?
There was only one way to find out.
I missed this.
I missed Renee Ahdieh's writing.
Khalid. Oh my Khalid.
I am so sorry you have to go through this.
My only issue about this novella was it felt unnecessary. It should have been binded with the other novella so it doesn't feel like something was missing.
