This definitely had a different vibe to it than the other Alex Rider books. Alex has been through the wringer and I think it showed in this one-- he's a bit darker/jaded and more mature. This seemed to be a bit of a nod to the first novel when thousands of teenagers were also going to be killed, but I loved the twist in that premise, AND what a cliffhanger!

This was an okay read but not my favourite in the series. I feel like I'd want to re-read some of the earlier books but this is the point where I think I'd start to lose interest. They just don't ring the same this far in, they start to lose some of their charm.
