Bleh. Too chummy, too much like that friend who won’t shut up going on a long trip with you. Also, I really hated the Gilmore Girls revival, and really really really hated the famous “last 4 words”, and it’s just sad for me to read about how she loved making it, etc. I’m sure she did, but I just want to shake her and say “can’t you see how random this is?? How bad it is? How terribly stupid the musical was? And how those last words were bad here, but would have been EVEN WORSE if spoken when your TV daughter was supposed to be 22?”.
Ahem. Anyway, I liked Amy Poehlers memoir because it gave real info and fun stories throughout, even if it was chummy. This I just wanted to be like, get on with it!!

I was a huge fan of Gilmore girls when it was airing, although I find that the preciousness and completely white pov of the show hasn't aged well (you deserved so much better, Lane). Neither has Lorelai's bratty, entitled attitude, although as the central protagonist of the show -- moreso than Rory, even -- a certain level of Lorelai being the narcissistic eye of the storm is to be expected.

Lauren Graham's memoir of her time in Stars Hollow, on the other hand, is more of a fun whirlwind. She doesn't hold anything back, but doesn't overshare; it's the perfect balance of chattiness and good timing, like if you're waiting for a ferry and somebody joins your table who fits right in and you all have a good laugh and the time flies by and none of you offer phone numbers or hint in the slightest that you now need to keep in touch.

There isn't really any dirt to dish, but you won't miss it. Graham narrates every event like something where once it's over you think, "Well, this'll make a good story someday" and the mood is catching. It can get a little manic in spots, but what else can really be expected from a woman who routinely delivered entire monologues on a single sip of oxygen?

What a great and easy read. I was able to finish it within a few days. It was great to hear the back story to Gilmore girls and what all was involved.

Lauren Graham narrating her own audiobook was such a joy to listen to. Her humor and warmth felt like a much needed hug.
