Its not that this book isnt good, it might even be great, I just didnt connect with the main character at all. Her motivations are all fuled by her sister and as someone with a... Not great one with my own, I just couldnt get behind her mentality.

For other people this might be a perfect fit! Loved the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ representation too! It felt natural and just a part of the world... Normal even

The last half of this book was definitely my favorite part. I was totally hooked. It was so entertaining! I'm don’t read as much fantasy as I would like, so I can see how some people might think it's predictable or nothing new, but for me, it was just great. I felt surprised, sad, mad everything. I really came to love the characters. I wasn’t sure about them at first, but by the end, I was all in. I also really like the way this Gabi Burton writes; it felt like I was watching a movie. It was fantastic. I do wish we’d gotten into the action a bit sooner since some parts felt a little repetitive and slow. Maybe the story could have been trimmed down a bit, but by the end, I was really enjoying it. I’m excited to read book 2. I think it’ll be more in line with the pace I’m looking for.

This would have been a five star read for me except the last chapter. I am not sure that I have ever been more let down with a character’s actions at an ending.

I am hoping there is some redemption in the second book.

Enemies to lovers where?? My man's Hayes is such a simp.
