I was worried to start this one, because I knew it had a lot to do with a father/daughter relationship and thinking of anything bad happening to my dad usually brings me to tears pretty fast. I thought this would slam me in the gut and wreck me, but it didn't. I had a hard time getting invested in the story and really sinking into the feelings of the main character, Alice. The whole story is from her perspective and she spends most of it kind of just whining about not being younger, richer, or more successful. She has a stable job that she likes, her own apartment in NYC, and a father and best friend who are devoted to her, that sounds like a lot to be grateful for to me.
When she first goes back in time, a 40 year old mind in a 16 year old body, her main idea for improving her life is to sleep with a teenage boy she had a crush on who she just saw was married with a child in the future.
It's well written, and the audiobook narrator was very good as well. I just didn't connect with it as much as I had hoped to.

I really wanted to like it but it just dragged for me. I couldn’t connect with Alice at all

i picked up this book on a whim during a trip to ohio, and i’m so happy i did! after reading the summary, i knew the story would wreck me, and i did cry more than i’d like to admit.

time travel stories aren’t uncommon, and this story doesn’t shy away from that. it makes fun of the time travel stories while telling a time travel story.

i loved all of the relationships in this book; they were fun, honest, and supportive. it made me think about the people in my life, how much they mean to me, and how valuable the time i have with them is.

this book also made me think about my life. i don’t think i’m alone in thoughts of “what if?”. but what i liked about this book is the realization that it’s never too late to make changes or different decisions. there is no timeline. and the choices made are true to yourself at the time.

A lovely meditation on our choices in life, growing older, becoming content, and grief.

Seems to be the theme of all the books I’m reading this month…😭😭 I love time travel so this was a good book with a good storyline. But it was just so forgettable and probably won’t stick with me. I found it hard to connect with the main character and think the third person POV probably hurt the story.
