Surprisingly thoroughly enjoyable, this formula would typically not work out so well for my jaded heart, but for some reason (perhaps buoyed by the enthusiastic narration by Michael Pauley) this was a really sexy and delicious over the top romp!

Our protagonist Blue, serendipitously meets up with a beautiful stranger at the weekend getaway for his sister’s wedding. What Blue doesn’t realize is that the sexy guy he’s flirting with is none other than his future brother in law, Tristan. Sparks fly, and to make Blue’s ex-boyfriend jealous, he and Tristan pretend to be together, and what follows is plenty of crazy shenanigans over just a few short days.

So basically, gird your loins for loads and loads of smex. Blue and Tristan’s attraction is combustible and they pretty much go at it hard, wet, and fast. Again. And again. And again. This is insta lust, followed quickly by insta love, with a quasi gay-for-you premise featuring the always lovely butt virgin trope. You’ve been duly warned!

Mysteriously, Lennox works her considerable magic on getting me to buy into Blue and Tristan’s love connection, while constantly making me laugh out loud and delighting in all the many sexcapades they get themselves into. Overall, this was hot, smart, and fun despite the excessive dramatics. The formula shouldn’t succeed, but miraculously, it does. I’m not going to question it, and I definitely look forward to seeing if the rest of the series can deliver as well as this one did!

This was unlike any other mm book I've ever read. I feel like it was written like a typical rom/com book. It read almost like a chick lit.

At first I thought this was going to be a quick fluffy read, but then I was surprised by it's length, and also by how deep it actually was. I found Tristan to be so refreshing, i LOVED his go for it attitude. He knew what he wanted and he didn't let anything stand in his way. One of my pet peeves with these stories is when misunderstanding happen that are intentionally kept unresolved when a simple conversation in the moment would help clear the air. This didn't happen here. In fact, every time I believe it was Tristan who cleared things up between them. I just really loved them together. Despite how fast they fell in love, which is another pet peeve of mine, the way they fell in love felt so real and genuine.

While I did love the story and the character, and I do feel like I want to know more about the other Marian siblings, I did feel like there was just way too much here that could've been cut out. Instead of 50 chapters. I think it could've easily been 40. It wasn't TOO bad, but I totally skipped over parts I knew added nothing to the story. parts that felt like watching a movie, rather than reading a story.

All in all, really great start. I like this WAY better than the first book from the forever wilde series.

this one was sweet and goofy funny. blue and tristan's story is fantastic. GFY isn't normally a trope i like but this was very well done.

i loved the introduction to all the marians.

Excellent writing. Excellent storytelling. Excellent book.

Lucy Lennox not only managed to tell a great love story, include plenty of hot af s*x scenes, keep readers on our toes with ups and downs, twists and turns, but also introduce AND let us get to know a good dozen or more characters, some of which are featured in the "Made Marian" series. All I have to do is read the title to know who the book is about and already have a visual of him and his life! Pretty impressive to manage that without ever taking anything away from the main storyline.
I can't wait to get started on "Taming Teddy!" Jamie's been isolated for too long!

This is a review for the audio version:

I read Borrowing Blue when it first came out last year and devoured each subsequent book from Lucy Lennox. I upgraded each book to audio, but had just never gotten around to listening to them. I’m kicking myself for waiting so long. Michael Pauley is FABULOUS at the narration for this. He doesn’t just read it, he acts it - tears, laughter, sexy moans - it all comes to life. I can’t wait to listen to the next one. What a treat!
