The language and imagery in this book is beautiful but the characters are somewhat insufferable. I feel like it should have been 200 pages longer so we could really have time in each location learning the characters and building the depth of their relationships.

This book felt kinda short for me. The story line, progression of the romance and character development all felt sloppy and rushed. I know this is a series so I understand not having a 500 page novel but everything about just felt like a Wattpad fanfiction for the maze runner.

The romance felt kinda insta love to me. I understand that they are childhood friends( if you can even call it that) and have a past with each other but if we do not have a clear background and experience with their past selves, I can’t really feel for childhood friends. I feel like it was thrown in there to justify why they fell for each other so quickly and not shown.

I did like the premise of the story and I am interested to see how this story progresses so that’s why I gave it 3 stars.
