ANGSTTTTTTTT

I was incredibly excited to see "I Hear the Sunspot: Limit Volume 1" in my mailbox at work, and made my evening all about picking up where I left off with Kohei and Taichi' professional and personal lives (together and apart). Although it was not as spectacular as the first two volumes in "I Hear the Sunspot", it continues to improve the reader and their views on the variety in the Deaf community.

There's more to our characters than we realize, especially in their pasts and what drives their present and future. We see that the stern mean well from a place of empathy, and the brave are bold and inclusive due to a past where that was not always the case. The series continues to suggest the reader, like it's characters, rethink first impressions and biases.

The nice part about the discovery in my mail box was that Volume 2 was in there too, and I cannot wait to pick up where we leave off in Volume 1! Will our characters find peace in times of uncertainty and potential loss? Will the changes they go through be too much? I am looking forward to finding out.

I really enjoyed this manga! However, I'm not super smart: I didn't realize that this was Volume 1 of the Limit series and not Vol. 1 of the overall series *facepalm*. I'm going to go back and read from the beginning so I have a little bit more context. I wasn't totally confused picking up here, though!

I Hear the Sunspot: Limi Vol. 1 shows how the miscommunication trope can be utilized in the context of having a couple wherein one of them has a hearing disability. This volume explores Kohei as a student and Taichi's first steps into a career of his choosing.

Prepare for more realistic conflict and heart-fluttering moments!

A perfect continuation of I Hear The Sunspot's existing series, if you loved the other books so far, you'll likely enjoy this one as well. In Limit 1, we have our main characters struggling to figure out their relationship and path forward as distance from work schedules and school pull them apart more and more. You can see the true love and care they have for each other, but it's hard sometimes to have a relationship when there are communication gaps (not just miscommunications, but literal struggles to communicate), changes in lifestyle/work, and other challenges like self-doubt thrown into the mix.

Basically, if you liked everything that came so far in I Hear the Sunspot, you'll likely enjoy this installment too, but don't expect the main characters to be out of the woods and happily ever after just yet.
