🌟🌟🌟🌟. 5 - I'm back in the world of Aaron Falk, and I couldn't be happier. I really liked the first book but I thoroughly enjoyed this second novel in the detective series. I found the plot more compelling and gripping, hooked on the dynamics of the lost women and trying to figure out what happened to Alice. The ending wasn't as explosive as I liked but I didnt guess it which is always a plus. I also love the Australian outback setting - the remote, harsh landscape is so fitting for these crime novels. A quick and easy read that had me hooked. I'm really happy to learn there was another book published last year in the series - I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Force of Nature follows Aaron Falk, as he tries to find a missing woman. Alice Russell was last seen on a company retreat, hiking through the Giralang Range with four of her female colleagues. But somewhere along the way, the women lose the trail and the group eventually find their way to the meet-up point without Alice. Aaron and his partner Carmen have a keen interest in finding Alice, as she was working with the Federal Police as a whistleblower, and was set to bring her employers down.
I picked this book up straight after finishing book one in the series, The Dry, and had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately it wasn't as strong as that book, but it was still an enjoyable book. As with the first one, the story is full of shady and unlikeable characters, and I loved it! Alice was so unlikeable that I was practically begging for someone to off her, lol.
This book had a different feel from the first one, but I felt it worked well with the mystery. There were more flashbacks and from different POVs, which I liked. Also, I think because it wasn't a personal case for Aaron and with the addition of Carmen, it felt more like a police procedural. I'm not sure how I feel about Carmen.
Overall, it was an okay read and I'd still like to read more in this series.

Spoiler
Like there's this chemistry between them, but she gives Aaron mixed vibes, I feel. One minute they're kissing and flirting, and the next she's like I'm still getting married, don't get any ideas. What???Overall, it was an okay read and I'd still like to read more in this series.

Good if you like mysteries. I liked The Dry better, but this one was good also.
