i love these books. so different and dark and mysterious and intriguing. i won’t lie that i was disappointed to finish the book and realize there will likely be another in the series :\ im just not much of a series girl anymore. but this was still so good! so twisty and unpredictable and connected really well to the last book while have a new and engaging story line. highly recommend this series for people wanting a dark academia twisty (and twisted) fantasy!

Very good book! I definitely enjoyed reading this.

North was my favourite in Ninth House, but since he wasn't here, I'd say my Hell Bent favourite is Darlington. I really like his whole obsessive-knowledge-seeker thing, and although he's kinda cliché, that's kinda the point.
... and I won't pretend that him being a sexy demon-thing wasn't a factor, either. I'm only human.

I don't really have much bad about it to say other than that it was pretty predictable. There was never an «Oh, shit,»-moment, and I really missed it.
The prologue caught my attention immediately, and I just couldn't wait to know what happened next, but I never really got that same feeling throughout the rest of the book.

However, finishing off with a positive comment, it is an interesting story, with interesting characters, and an interesting setting nonetheless. I love how Bardugo depicted demons, vampires, and probably most of all: ghosts.

I recommend this to anyone who's interested in reading a dark academia, mystery, urban fantasy type story with an fantastic take on ghosts.

While I still love Alex and the plot was unpredictable and engrossing, I found that the world expanded a bit too much... (Spoilers: demons??? Why???).

We’re going to hell and not everyone will make it out alive.

Alex and Dawes are are determined to bring Darlington back from hell.  The problem is, they have to learn how to do so.  Enlisting the help of Turner, Tripp, and Mercy, the group figures out the riddle to the gate and makes the descent.

As expected, nothing goes according to plan and demons follow them back.  In a race to close the gate, the group finds them facing off against vampires and demons, while also trying to solve a murder.

In this wildly chaotic story, we delve deeper into the lives and pasts of Alex, Darlington, Dawes, Turner, Tripp, and Mercy.

Lauren Fortang and Michael David Axtell bring this story to life in a captivating way, leaving you wanting more. I’ve listened to both Ninth House and He’ll Bent on Audible, and I think it just adds to the experience.

Incredible sequel to Ninth House! loved learning more about the magic, loved the mystery and the puzzles and loved how Leigh Bardugo somehow finds a way to insert humor into such dark, tense moments.

I do think Hell Bent gets more gorey (or I could be completely forgetting how intense Ninth House was) so reader beware.
