I started watching the anime first and was in awe with the animation and story, so I decided to read the manga and I am so glad I did! The art is amazing, and I love Gotouge’s authorial direct addresses, and the inclusion of the advertising artwork- it really feels like they are talking to us, which adds a further element of fun to the manga.
Tanjiro is so kindhearted, and the portrayal of his relationship with his little sister Nezuko is so sweet. The concept of the story is really clever, and the elements of gore and violence are thrilling but not too disturbing, so you are gripped throughout.
This was my first manga that I have ever read, and I will be reading more. I highly recommend to fans of the anime, manga and comics in general- you will not be disappointed.

It’s like a mash up between “Inuyasha” and “Naruto.”

an adventurous, startlingly violent, oft humorous tale w/ great emotional beats and memorable characters - tanjiro wholesome best boy!! - though the art can look a bit wooden at times, but im sure this will improve as the story progresses.

kimetsu no yaiba is also refreshingly family-centric and esp non-misogynistic, a seemingly low bar but significant feat in shounen, undoubtedly the author's identity being an important factor. this series is the first that got me from anime to manga instead of the other way around, and im excited to see how the og goes (and ends!).

I don't really know how to properly rate this. This is outside the wheelhouse of the type of manga I usually read, but it was very interesting. I really appreciate the compassionate nature of the main character and I think it can lead to a lot of cool things thematically. The pacing did throw me off some, but I don't know if that's a book thing or a me thing since I'm not used to reading more action-oriented manga.

I read the manga after already watching the anime, and they follow each other pretty closely. I love the silly little faces Tanjiro makes now and then. But the cliffhanger at the end! I would have been so upset to have to wait for the next book if I didn't know what happened next

This seems like a promising start. The first volume is very fast-paced and skims over a lot of the training Tanjiro goes through. In most other shonen manga I've read that level and amount of training takes place over several story arcs, so I'm interested to see how the rest of this story develops. I still have questions about the world and demons that I would like answered, so we shall see.
