Not for everyone but pretty good, and the ambition of the story allows for "pretty good" to be a fine enough start. I'm into it. I like the art, the lore, it's a cool place to be, and the story is vast. Hickman and Dragotta, if you continue to hit this level of satisfaction as the story progresses, I will be psyched.

Year Two outdid Year One, and I couldn't be happier. The storylines make forward progress, but there's also a lot of new complexity. Hickman is crafting a compelling epic that should be the next Game of Thrones, and Dragotta brings it to life with fantastic design and action. Highly recommended, and these deluxe hardcovers are well worth it.

The scale and scope of this series is absolutely epic.

I bought book 1 and 2 together and read them in one sitting which I think helped a lot with understanding the story more and the characters. Great art and color and although the story gets muddled sometimes (for me it gets into complex storylines that are a little muddled to understand) I am intrigued about where the story goes. I'm going to wait for book 3 to read the next installment.

The art is great and the colors and linework are bold. The actual copy of the hardcover book is a great edition. The storyline takes a little to sink into and the hook is towards the end that can keep someone interested. I bought book 1 and 2 together and read both which I think helped a lot. I feel if you just read the first issue or first volume there's not that much to go on and the story can get really confusing with a lot of questions asked but not many answered.
