The Library of Borrowed Hearts is a stronger read than Lucy Gilmore’s other novel The Lonely Hearts Book Club, which both feature curmudgeon-y old men with hearts of gold.

While I love the idea of a romance that unfolds on the margins of books, the story is a bit slow as it takes place over 5 parts. However, I did not see the plot twist coming (
Zach being Jasper’s grandson
), so that was fun.

He was a romantic. Possibly the most romantic person she’d ever known. His feet were planted on solid ground, but his heart roamed free.

If you don’t like where you are, you don’t have to pack up your whole family and abandon everything you know and love. All you have to do is grab a different story from the shelf.

I loved the tow storylines and how they intertwined. Also adored the literary references and bookish love story. So wonderful.
