I really really enjoyed this book. It feels like a cozy day in a cabin with a soft drizzle of rain outside, a fluffy blanket on my lap, a warm sweet drink nearby and quiet. I loved the family. They felt very real and messy and dysfunctional and reminded me of my own childhood. The hardships of poverty felt genuine and not lien caricatures. I love a stuffy old man that is just a gooey chocolate chip cookie, a romantic at his core. I did not like Catherine lol she was so selfish. But I think that’s part of why I enjoyed this book so much because you don’t need to like everyone or even understand them. In the end she made a very difficult decision that she thought was for the best and chose her own path & I do admire that about her. I like the note this book left off on. I can definitely see myself going back for a reread and I don’t do that often

The Library of Borrowed Hearts is a delightful, small-town story, complete with everyone in everyone else’s business and knowing the comings and goings of each person in town. I love when the characters are so well developed that I feel like I could cozy up with them for a good chat—even with crotchety, old Jaspar!
