Double romance plot! I loved this so much. The exploration of family dynamics was thorough and done with care. I loved the romantic note writing in the library books. It's just SO good. Also, multiple POV including some side characters was refreshing. Closed door romance.

This was unexpected. I did not think I was going to like this book as much as I did.. but here we are.
This book made me laugh, smile, cry. I went through an emotional journey with this book and I honestly loved every minute of it. So much of this book is just based on relationships. The ones we form with people and the ones we form with books. It's all of this that I found relatable and touched my heart.
Reading about characters that just loved reading was just so fun. They lived and breathed books. Quoting them, finding escape through them, and just living lives through them. It all just speaks to my heart and I couldn't not love it.
Ugh.. the characters. They are all perfect. I loved Jasper with everything I have. I loved Chloe and her fight to just live life and provide for her siblings. These two steal the show with how big their hearts really are but how much the world has beat them down. But they keep going.. even if not always in the most productive of ways. The kids are adorable and fun. Zach is precious even if he lied. Pepper and Lonnie are the best friends you wish you had. All they want to do is help and it just makes me so happy. And Catherine. Even if you want to be mad at her.. and to be fair, it is deserved and you can be.. you also have to love her. She is a product of her time as a woman who didn't have many choices but she did the best she could with what she was available. She wanted to live her life while not bringing down people she loved. I can't blame her.
All of them made me cry. All their relationships were just good even if they were heartbreaking. It was real and it is life. You do the best you can and you hope that there are people there to help you along the way. And sometimes we don't get happy endings. But also sometimes you gain things, whether it be new people or just strength of character that you didn't know you had all thanks to life.

I love heavy, deep books but in between I love a sweet reprieve. Another sweet story by Lucy Gilmore. I especially appreciate that some of her best characters are seniors. Young love is not necessarily the best love.

This book pulled in the mystery aspect to really bring it to really draw you in. An old love story told through notes scribbled in library books? Tell me more. I really enjoyed the characters and the story, but there were a few too many convenient coincidences for me to rate it higher. I did like the book, but I'm grumpy when I think about a single character's entrance and existence throughout.

Cathrine is a rotten, selfish, self-centered woman and I will die on this hill every time. Don’t even try to defend her to me because I will not listen nor care!!
