I enjoyed the style of the book, the two time periods and two love stories it focused on. But I felt like the present love story was lacking, and Catherine felt simply like a self-important snob. The narration for Jasper was way too raspy and had a lot of breathing audible that made it difficult for me to understand the words half the time. But story-wise and character-wise, I liked the kids, Zach, Chloe and Jasper. Catherine can honestly kick the bucket right this instant and I wouldn't sweat.

I wanted to love this book based on the premise alone, but it just fell a little flat for me. I loved the references to classic literature! It felt a little long and I would have loved for more development between Zach and Chloe.
