To put it into short terms, this story is about a young girl who wishes to live a life in which she's "free" from the pressures of her family and her peers. She makes a deal with a shadow (devil), and ends up being immortal. Her and this devil end up in romantic affairs. Chapters go from past to present, and in a poetic, and repetitive sense, she describes her story of being alive for 300 years.
The book itself is beautiful, I would recommend it for hopeless romantics who admire poetry and subtle angst. My distaste for it though is its terrible repetition. Constant mentions of Addie kissing this guy, and Addie making love with this dude, and who Addie is laying in bed next to for another morning. It takes till the end of the book until you find genuine movement in Addie and Luc's "relationship". A lot of the book feels terribly slow, but still, it's not a bad read, and to be honest, it's one of those reads that are easier to swallow. Nothing too intense, nothing too crazy. Overall, I found it to be enjoyable. Do I recommend it? Yes. Depends on the audience.

Interminable and predictable retelling of the Beauty and the Beast trope. Interesting premise, but not enough to make the book interesting. Couldn’t finish it fast enough. Boring, repetitive. Shallow MC. Tired of watching women fall for bad boys. Haven’t we learned better by now?

Very well written, and a unique idea. A bit slow and boring at times, especially at the beginning where the narration style was a bit off (but it made sense in the end ). Took a while to pick up. Addie wasn’t super loveable. Well done ending. Great standalone
