The biggest thing working against this is pairing this with Corey’s other series, The Expanse. It’s an expectation that you think this will be exciting in a similar way to that and this just simply isn’t like that.
That being said, I did spend a lot of the book waiting for something to happen that kind of just never does. It constantly teases like it might take a leap forward in its plot that but never executed. Instead, it ends on this weird note of anticlimax that feels unsatisfying.
