An hour and a half into the audio book (15% done) and I just can't take it any more. The characters are horrible and I'm bored out of my mind. Too many good books, too little time so this one has to go. YMMV, but I'm DNFing this one! No star rating because I didn't actually finish it.

Characters were all just genuinely unbearable, but it is an incredibly well thought out and written book, just not particularly a read for fun kind of book.

Loved this book. LOVED IT. I haven't been so into a novel in a long time and it was really nice to have something I couldn't pull myself away from. It was also a nice break from all of the science fiction that I've been reading lately.

This was a dark tale, poignant and even poetic in parts, it develops an incredible atmosphere of the themes of sin, damnation, salvation, and mercy, drawing out certain religious themes in such a haunting way. I was gripped.

"If it was a guardian angel speaking to her now, he spoke like a devil - he tempted her to virtue like sin."

"You can't conceive, my child, nor can I or anyone - the...appalling...strangeness of the mercy of God."
