3.5✨ for the whole thing. I do wish I would have read this one first.

I want to start this with saying I read Assassians Blade for the first time as the THIRD book read within the TOG series. A friend of mine told me that would be the best spot for me to fit it in, and she was totally correct.

I don’t think the revelations in TOG or COM would have hit as hard if I had read Assassians Blade first in the series. It would’ve given a lot of information early on, which if you don’t like being a little confused or searching for answers- maybe read it first.

Waiting until now to read it, kept the mystery of her persona alive.Reading this book now made a lot of questions I had in the other two books disappear as now there was proof on why she behaved the way she did/ why she said certain things/ etc etc.

I really enjoyed reading these novellas. Originally I had wanted to make notes of each one separately as if they were their own separate books, but I was really drawn in and realized that all five of the stories are so interconnected that it’s easier to look at it as a whole. I’m excited to see if any of these characters mentioned in each novella come back at any point in the rest of the series. Each of these stories gave us such an in depth look at who Celaena was while she was a member of the Assassians guild, and how she’s gown as a character since then. It also opened up so many questions about events that took place- questions that hopefully will get answered as the series continues.

I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 just because it didn’t have the same wow factor Crown of Midnight did. With that being said, I still really enjoyed this book and the emotional moments hit super hard.

I read this book in-between Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire, and let me tell you, in my opinion- THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY TO READ IT!!!! I was told to read it first by some people but ultimately decided to read it after the first two books. I don't think the book would've hit as hard if I read it first, so I'm glad I didn't.

spoilers ahead**
Oh my gosh my heart😭😭😭😭😭
Can we please talk about Sam and Celaena????????????? I knew Sam was going to die because I read the first two books, but it still hit so hard. All the references from the first two books make so much sense now!!!!
