I’m glad I read this for cultural context and relevance, but so much was frustrating, especially in the end with Jim in the shed. The character and dialect is certainly unique and worth experiencing, and much of the story was engaging. But I had had enough of children creating a worse time for Jim by the end.

A work of classic fiction by none other than Mark Twain. A tale of action and adventure, it tells the story of Huck Finn, lovable rapscallion who aims to live a life free of being civilized, and help his friend and former slave Jim. Through one adventure after the next, he fakes his own death, finds a Duke and a King, and escapes from a shipwreck. It’s a tale like no other!

Huck Finn runs away from his abusive father; on the same night the slave Jim runs away from his owner. Huck finds out that Jim is suspected of possibly having killed him, since he faked his own murder. Throughout the book Huck worries about the morality of helping a slave evade his 'rightful' owner and thereby depriving someone of their property.
